An enclosure usually needs a separately purchased drive. Match NVMe versus SATA, physical drive size and your computer’s port before comparing headline speeds. An M.2 connector shape alone is not enough to establish compatibility. Keep a separate backup, and check the contents of a reused drive before formatting it.
